Ecosystem of Collective Memories (2024)
with Alicia Monreal Ortega and Inés Ballesteros
Fruits, vegetables, foraged plants, soil, clay, various microbial and fungal bodies.
As a last iteration of Project SEEDS, Inês, Alicia and Inés investigate mutualism, embodied wisdom and radical amateurism to acknowledge and stimulate lively interspecies alliances. By embracing craft and tactile disciplines like foraging, fermentation, hand-sewing, and traditional clay firing, this work rejects capitalist imperatives of constant novelty, scale and efficiency. Edible, compostable and reusable, these objects and foods take a slow, intimate texture that celebrates the more-than-humans that co-created the works. As a result of the memories of four different art residencies, the artists re-envision the human as a permeable system, an interactive kin-stellation that, via prepping, eating and digesting, in constant regeneration.
